Healing Art at The Resurgent – Visioning Guidelines

A transformative multi-use facility co-owned by Cone Health and the NC A&T Real Estate Foundation, The Resurgent is a bold step toward revitalizing the East Market Street corridor by bringing essential healthcare, economic investment and community-centered growth to one of Greensboro’s most historic neighborhoods.

This hub for healing, entrepreneurship and opportunity is located at the corner of East Market Street and Benbow Road. Opening in early 2026, Cone Health will provide urgent care, primary care and women’s health services on Levels 1 & 2 – addressing critical gaps in care in one of the region’s most under-served areas.

Vision: Art, Community and Renewal

Cone Health’s public art project at The Resurgent will be curated to reflect and uplift the people and spirit of East Greensboro – a historically Black community with deep cultural roots, legacy institutions and a long tradition of leadership and resilience.

Through signature, commissioned artwork, the art project will prioritize smaller-scale installations, and storytelling through place-based creativity. Artwork(s) will be integrated into select high-visibility interior areas on Levels 1 & 2, helping create a sense of welcome, beauty and connection across the building’s uses. Artists with a connection to NC A&T University and Bennett College are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility: Artist or team of artists must:

1. Reside in North Carolina

2. Be able to work in the United States legally

3. Embrace the Visioning Guidelines

The total budget of $25,000 will cover art produced for three locations and include:

- Artist fees
